Kitchen Countertops

When you think about renovating your kitchen space, kitchen tops are the first things that come to mind. With so many styles and options to choose from, it can be an overwhelming task to determine what best fits your needs. Home décor is pretty similar to fashion. There are those classic styles that never go old, and you have the latest hot trends that will come and go. Usually, the lifetime of kitchen décor lasts for about 10 years, so when you’re remodeling your home and are designing your dream kitchen, you may want to take into consideration the different styles and options that would suit you.

Many kitchen tops out there are usually made of marble or granite. However, there are a few trending kitchen designs in Malaysia that you may want to consider, such as:

Quartz Stone

Quartz stones are basically engineered stones which are composed of 95% quartz particles and the binders make up the rest of the stone. Once the quartz has been mined, it’s added into an aggregated mix where the quartz crystals are combined with liquid resin as well as colorants into slurry. Quartz stones are widely used to create ergonomic, efficient workstations that cater to the diverse needs and goals of each particular kitchen surface, as well as unique design styles and preferences.

Granite Stone

Granite’s vivid natural color palette and near diamond-hard, non-porous surface makes it the ideal material for counter tops. Granite has a crystalline structure which provides the kitchen with a more sophisticated and elegant look and the beauty of the stone can give the most conventional kitchen a little je ne sais quoi. Compared to Quartz stone, Granite stone has gained more popularity among Malaysia’s homeowners though both are natural stones.

Marble Stone

Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. The crystalline hard rock is widely used for creating luxury counter tops, pillars or floors. Marble can add beauty and character to a kitchen, and since it’s available in a variety of patterns and colors, you can never get tired of experimenting with various combinations.

Solid Surface

Solid Surfaces are generally composed from resins and aluminium trihydrate (ATH). They are typically used in households, office buildings and industry places where the materials can be incorporated as kitchen and bathroom counter top, display and bar settings, and even shelves. Solid Surfaces are available in a wide range of design choices from meteoroid to diamond, jewel to translucent, even pearl-effect – a total of more than 100 varieties.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is a steel alloy that contains at least 10.5% chromium and thus will not rust unlike conventional carbon steel. A Stainless Steel kitchen top has a classy, elegant feel to it while invoking the feelings of being modern and up to date. It is widely used by professional chef as they are anti-bacterial and stain-resistant, while giving a elegant and beautiful glow to the kitchen.

There are some other kitchen counter top options such as laminated table top and the conventional concrete top. Undecided which counter tops to be installed in your kitchen?
